Position Summary

As a key program leader and change agent, the R&D Project Manager is responsible for acting as a business partner to key business leaders in identifying, aligning and prioritizing large cross-functional programs and/or change initiatives.  The Project Manager will deliver tangible business results through deployment of project management techniques involving Operations, Packaging, Sales, Marketing, Procurement, R&D and Quality.  

   

Roles and Responsibilities include the following:

 

Leadership/Project management –

  • Partners with key functional areas including: R&D, Marketing, Sales, Packaging, Engineering, Procurement, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, Operations, Senior Leadership, and other stakeholders to manage the product development process.
  • Plan, monitor, and control project schedule, budget and resource mapping throughout the project lifecycle of scoping, development, and commercialization phases.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritize projects, address project changes, and evaluate options. Including resource allocation and execute timelines based on business needs and requirements.
  • Coordinate documentation of detailed customer requirements, business justification, product requirements, engineering specifications and other design input and design output documents to establish the project deliverables.
  • Defines goals, scope, milestones, resources, and timeline for product enhancements and new product development.
  • Provides clarity on accountability where roles or tasks overlap.
  • Achieve product quality goals, time-to market objectives, meeting product cost targets, and track project cost targets and timelines.
  • Identify manage and mitigate risks to reduce negative impact on deliverables, quality, due dates and cost.
  • Facilitate resolution and drive decisions across project teams, functional managers and upper management.
  • Build teamwork within the project teams but also across departments, plant sites, external partners (customers/vendors) that impact the success of the project.
  • Creates and publishes a dashboard of key indicators of progress that can easily be referenced by team members and stakeholders.
  • Leads cross functional meetings; plans and distributes agendas, informs, facilitates q&a, healthy debates, problem solving discussions, and general communication.
  • Provides timely accurate reporting and documentation; provides post-launch analysis and reviews successes/failures, and shares lessons learned.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

 



 

 

Job Requirements



Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • PMP designation or actively working towards one; equivalent experience considered

 

Experience

  • PMI/PMC certification required; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years’ experience of project management experience.
  • Process Improvement in a CPG (consumer packaged goods) company. Health/Specialty food background is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in project management software and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Successful experience in leading / facilitating cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills including Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing Projects.
  • R&D and product development coordination-preferably from concept to commercialization
