Position Summary:

Responsible for the daily management and scheduling of maintenance department and employees.  Responsible for preventative maintenance schedule, management and monitoring.   


Essential Duties and Requirements:                                                                                                                                                    


  • Daily Operations-management of maintenance employees, scheduling                 
    budgeting, employee development.
  • Participate in daily production meetings to support operational needs;                 
    utilize maintenance resources to develop plans for corrective action, and
    develop sustainable programs to reduce repeat failures.
  • Preventative Maintenance- Development of            
    maintenance plan and ensure the application of resources to accomplish repairs.
    Support  (MP2) maintenance management system and ensure its full utilization.
  • Storeroom - Work with Storeroom and Parts Coordinator to reduce downtime associated with out of stock parts. Develop storeroom procedures to facilitate sustainable programs surrounding stock outs, organization, and inventory /cost reduction.       
  • R&M-Costs/Tracking and budget responsibilities - Develop and implement            
    spending controls for maintenance R&M. Monitor and report spending.               
  • Downtime (Mechanical) -Track and develop solutions for the root causes                        
    of downtime.
  • Training-Ensure OSHA compliance, as well as technical competencies.
  • Develop policies and procedures to continuously decrease maintenance downtime.
  • Develop department to become world class maintenance organization.
  • Manage capital projects.
  • Responsible for promoting food safety and employee safety throughout the organization.

Other duties include:

  • Contractor Management-competitive bid process, estimates
  • Assist with the preparation of the maintenance budget (Annually)
  • Staffing and scheduling to provide proper maintenance support to operations.
  • Compliance/Safety/Environmental
  • Company Policy Enforcement for Department
  • Safety-audit action plan and follow up

  • Will encounter material and equipment operating at high temperatures, speeds, and frequencies



Environmental conditions

  • Exposure to high intensity noise.
  • Work conditions may expose person to natural elements.
  • Work on scaffolding or other elevated platforms up to 30 feet.
  • Required working long periods while standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling or walking.
  • Use electric/pneumatic power tools with sharp rotating/reciprocating blades.
  • Exposed to heavy lifting, products that produce burns or freezing, hazardous vapors and chemical reactions, to include batteries, fuels, oils, solvents, gasses and pressurized systems.
  • Exposed to airborne particles when cutting, fabricating, repairs or installation of equipment and parts.
  • Will encounter electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, steam and chemical hazards.
  • May require entry into confined spaces.
  • Will encounter material and equipment operating at high temperatures, speeds and frequencies.                                


Work pace

Continuously on the shop floor. – minimal office

Preferred:      Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical field.





Experience:   Minimum 5 years previous experience.



Skills and Knowledge:  Personal Organizational Skills, excellent people skills, MP2, Budgeting, Positive Leadership Skills, Electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic, and PLC troubleshooting and repair knowledge. Welding and sheet metal fabrication. PLC experience a plus. Previous Capital Project Experience a plus.
