Position Summary:

The Data Manager develops and implements data strategies, policies, controls, and programs to ensure system data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable. Provides assistance in resolving data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.  Drives process improvement and efficiencies for data management.  Provides useful tools and data analysis to drive the business forward creating solutions for each departmental need.  Leads all software and program upgrades and implementations, as well as other solution oriented data projects. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Requirements include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead Master Data Team and all initiatives and strategies associated with data and associated document management.
  • Defines roles and responsibilities of Master Data Team and determines best strategy for data governance implementation, maintenance, and sustainability.
  • Maps all data processes and integrations.
  • Develops, maintains, and enforces standard data governance policies and procedures for data creation, modification, maintenance, and deactivation.
  • Develops tools for the successful implementation of data strategies, creates SOP’s and provides training for end users.
  • Monitors activity associated with data records within owned master data systems to determine integrity issues by creating ad hoc tools for validation and control.
  • Creates all internal audit procedures and reports determining best frequency to maintain data integrity.
  • Manages, analyzes, and resolves data issues and manages revisions needed to best meet internal and external customer requirements while adhering to data governance standards.
  • Drives all data management, governance, and data quality requirements with other functional data owners to ensure data integrity across the operation of all systems is consistent and meets company rules and requirements.
  • Work closely with the business/IT to ensure alignment of data rules and the operations of all applications.
  • Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and recommends solutions.
  • Partners with each functional area to create tools to better utilize available data resources. 
  • Manages multiple enterprise projects cross-functionally from ideation to completion including all new software implementations and existing software upgrades.
  • Manages research and innovation projects, teaming with other departments to generate creative solutions to business needs and technical challenges.
  • Works cross-functionally to identify key initiatives and execute solutions to business problems using data analysis and advanced analytics.
  • Extracts data from a variety of sources for use in analysis, models, and project development.
  • Creates ad hoc reporting and data analysis.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required.  At least 5-7 years of relevant experience required.  Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, and PowerPoint is required.  Ability to use Microsoft Query and SQL in conjunction with excel to create tools from scratch.  Prior experience in master data governance ERP system required.   2+ years of experience leading and managing projects.  Technical writing experience a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of database management, master data governance and implementation, driving change, cultural influence, strategic long term planning and scalability, and the ability to work well with limited management oversight are critical for this role.  The ability to accurately analyze data and review work carefully, ability to prioritize numerous responsibilities at the same time, ability to work well with others, ability to communicate orally and in written form.
