Job Description

Position Summary-    The Business Development Manager- Natural Channel is responsible for implementation of the market direction outlined by THF’s corporate 4-year plan through the development of business in the Natural Channel. 




  • Develop Sales Initiatives for the Natural Channel in the U.S. & Canada
    • Both Existing & New Customers


  • Primary communication and coordination responsibility in the Natural Channel


  • Effectively manage budget and credit risks associated with current & new Customers in the Natural Channel
  • Responsible for promoting food safety and employee safety throughout the organization





  1. Develop, sell-in, execute & follow-up on Natural Channel Sales Initiatives
  2. Develop & Communicate Customer Business Plans for the Natural Channel
  3. Effectively Execute Sales & Trade Plans within the Natural Channel
  4. Management of Brokers for the Natural Channel
  5. Assist Branded National Sales Manager with distributor shows and evaluation of brokers



  1. Perform administrative functions
  2. Manage Promotional Allowance & Market Development funds within approved budget
  3. Assist in credit function including establishment of new customers
  4. Develop marketing plan for sales execution of new platforms
  5. Develop sales goals and target customers
  6. Work with Cross Functional Teams to identify trends with the Natural Channel
  7. Submit itineraries, expense reports, market report, budgets and sales plans on a timely basis
  8. Management of assigned shows related to Natural Channel


Supervisory Responsibilities

While this position has no direct supervisory responsibility, it is an integral part of the Sales Team

Job Requirements



            Required:       Bachelor’s degree or life equivalent

            Preferred:        Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing or Business

                                    Advanced education/experience in Marketing/Sales



  • Five years CPG Sales experience is required, Natural Channel experience preferred
  • New business development exposure
  • Broker Management experience is preferred



Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with word processing, presentation and spreadsheet programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sales aptitude skill-set
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Capable of prioritizing workload to maximize customer satisfaction; excellent follow-up is a must
  • High degree of thought leadership
  • Strong, general reasoning, financial acumen & analytical skills

Work Environment

Works individually and must be a self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.  Good business judgment and flexibility will be required to keep up with constantly changing needs of customers and brokers.  This position does require travel (30-40%).  Will need excellent administrative and communicative skills to keep projects on track at the office or when traveling.  This position requires occasional weekend work and regular workdays in excess of eight hours per day.  Occasional lifting, bending, and carrying will be required due to shows and sample transport.
